BEIRUT: "Lebanon will go through a period of prosperity, construction and festivals ... Lebanon looks like a dream, but I am not dreaming. The international tribunal to try the killers of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri will be created and 'major crimes' perpetrated in Lebanon will be discovered before the court sees the light." These are some of the predictions made by renowned clairvoyant Michel Hayek on Sunday during a New Year's Eve program on the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation (LBC).

Hayek made more than 70 predictions for Lebanon, the Arab countries and the world.

"Some criminals charged with attacking Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea and his wife MP Strida Geagea will be caught. What is remarkable about them will be their distinctive facial features and accent," Hayek said. "I see a picture including Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Progressive Socialist party leader Chouf MP Walid Jumblatt. No comment," he added. Hayek also said that a Chouf MP "is in danger" and a "painful letter will be written with the blood of a Lebanese Druze figure." "The agreement between Hizbullah and the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) will remain intact, despite a conflict that will ignite between them," he said. "I see a radical change among FPM officials, especially the Reform and Change parliamentary bloc," he added. According to Hayek, a military figure involved in "huge and suspicious operations" will be prosecuted. "A quasi-vengeful act will be committed against FPM official Gebran Bassil. A similar act will be committed against the March 14 Forces MPs Mosbah Ahdab and Wael Bou Faour," he said. Away from politics, Hayek said that "Lebanon's summer will witness fog, rainfall and unusual natural phenomenon." "A series of light earthquakes will hit more than one Lebanese region," he said. Hayek, who warned Princess Diana to be careful four months before her death, also said that a "weird but intentional fire will break out somewhere in a bid to commit a crime." Hayek also predicted that a Lebanese woman will soon occupy a "high position, which will catch local and international attention."

As for the Arab world, Hayek predicts "a foreign military offensive in the Syrian territories." Two historic visits will take place between Lebanon and Syria, he said, although he also predicted a state of military alert between the two countries after a confrontation on the border.
"Well-known figures in the Arab world and Lebanon will commit suicide," he added.

Internationally, Hayek said that the White House will witness an "internal shock that will shake US President George W. Bush." "An important US monument will be targeted by a destructive terrorist act," he added. Hayek also said that France, the United Kingdom and Spain would become an "arena for terrorist acts," adding that the world would witness what he called an "intentional nuclear accident." - The Daily Star
